Ladies, we all have a damaged self buried deep inside, a part that can make us feel worthless. It may rise to the surface now and then or, for some of us, it may be a constant companion. It makes us doubt ourselves or feel shy, anxious, or even depressed. It often interferes just when we most need to be accurate in our estimation of our value. Despite our work on improving self-esteem, the damaged self is still with us, tagging along and causing trouble. This is mainly because positive thinking and self-affirmations can make those with low self-esteem feel even worse about themselves.
